The former Palazzo Versace hotel that has been operating as the Imperial Hotel since mid-2023 will become a luxury LXR hotel next year.
After making a deal with the property’s owner, Islander Hotel Trading Pty Ltd, the hotel is set to undergo a refurbishment before it moves to its new Hilton brand. It will retain its existing 200 room count.
“The Gold Coast provides an ideal setting for LXR’s distinctive approach to luxury, where place, design and experience are deeply connected,” said Hilton’s director of development for Australasia, Tushar Raniga.
“The property holds one of the most alluring positions along the city’s main coastal corridors and will introduce the independent spirit of LXR to the Australian market.
“We are proud to work with our partners to bring this exceptional destination to life and to continue expanding Hilton’s presence in one of the region’s most dynamic resort markets.”
There are currently 19 open LXR hotels and resorts around the world, with a further 17 in the pipeline.
“As the proud owner of the former Palazzo Versace Gold Coast, we are honored to partner with Hilton to introduce the…luxury brand, LXR Hotels & Resorts to Australia,” said director of Islander Hotel Trading Pty Ltd, Li Xu.
“This transformation represents a new chapter for the property – one that respectfully preserves the hotel’s iconic design heritage while elevating it through a comprehensive refurbishment.
“Together, we are committed to delivering a reimagined luxury experience that blends timeless elegance with a heightened sense of place, service and sophistication, setting a new benchmark for the Gold Coast.”

Over on Australia’s west coast, Minor Hotels’ first Australian Anantara hotel will be part of a new development not far from Perth’s Optus Stadium on the Swan River.
The 150-room hotel is anticipated to open in 2032 as part of the master-planned $3.8 billion Burswood Point development.
Alongside its guest rooms, Anantara Perth will have two restaurants, a swimming pool and an Anantara Spa.
“We are delighted to introduce Anantara to Australia,” said Minor Hotels’ group CEO, Dillip Rajakarier.
“Perth is experiencing rapid development across its urban and tourism landscape, creating the ideal environment for a property of this standard.
“Anantara Perth represents our commitment to expanding world-class luxury experiences into new markets.”
