Two other Australian companies made the list in its second half – AGB Events and creative agency Entropico.
The index is compiled based on wins by each company in the annual Eventex Awards over the last three years. The awards provide broad recognition across the global events industry, including business and public events, event agencies and PCOs, suppliers, event technology and venues. The latest iteration of the awards had 761 entries from 49 countries.
Over the three-year period, NTMEC won 20 awards, including 10 this year for their work on three events – Parrtjima – A Festival in Light 2022, BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival 2022 and Darwin Triple Crown Supercars Indigenous Round 2022.
“To see the Northern Territory appearing in not just the global Top 100, but the global Top 10, is incredible,” said NTMEC CEO Suzana Bishop.
“The Northern Territory might be a small jurisdiction, but our events industry delivers huge benefits, ranging from economic to social.
“To be recognised for this on an international stage alongside some of the world’s leading events companies and agencies is fantastic.
“Recognition like this exposes the Territory’s events industry to prospective new partnerships and collaborations, which helps us keep evolving and changing.”
The three 2022 events generated $58.9 million in economic impact for the territory, the vast majority of which came from interstate.
WINK Creative Experiential Agency based in the Netherlands was top of the Eventex index, with 51 wins over the last three years, while agencies based in Qatar, the USA, Germany, China, Ireland and Poland all featured in the top 10.
Country outposts of global event companies featured on the list, including MCI, George P Johnson and Jack Morton Worldwide.
AGB Events, one of the other two Australian companies in the index, was also behind the conception of Parrtjima – A Festival in Light, which made a major contribution to NTMEC’s position on the list.
The Northern Territory government owned organisation was ranked ninth in last year’s index.
