The $2.78 billion project by Melbourne property developer Beulah is claimed to be the tallest skyscraper in Australia and the world’s tallest vertical garden. Described as a vertical metropolis, it will rise 365 metres and feature a rooftop botanic garden open to the public.
Four Seasons Melbourne will occupy the smaller of two towers, the western tower, with 210 rooms and a sky lobby on its 63rd floor. The hotel will feature an integrated world class health and wellness centre, multiple event spaces, including a 3,000 seat auditorium, plus a rooftop restaurant.
The adjacent tower will house a range of private residences as well as public open spaces and what are being referred to as “pocket parks” open spaces, alongside art and cultural attractions.
In a recent Instagram update, Beulah highlighted the green credentials on the project.
“We firmly believe that the integration of nature within urban environments enriches both the quality of life and the ecosystem. STH BNK’s green spine showcases how we blend together nature and design, transforming the building into a living, breathing entity that interacts seamlessly with its surroundings.”
The developer said the vertical garden would not only enhance the building’s aesthetic appeal but act as natural insultation to reduce energy consumption while offering the community spaces for relaxation, interaction and connection with nature in the heart of the urban landscape.
Multiplex has won the construction bid and is expected to get to work shortly. With an anticipated build time of five years, the hotel can be expected to open in Q1 of 2028.
