There’s new leadership and new ownership at the Melbourne-founded PCO WALDRONSMITH Management (WSM).

Having run for more than 30 years under founding director, Kate Smith, with Gerard Halpin becoming a fellow director in 2005, WALDRONSMITH Management has passed into the ownership and leadership of Renee Bennett, who heads up Encanta Event Management, headquartered on Australia’s west coast.

“WALDRONSMITH Management has grown into an exceptional organisation over more than three decades, underpinned by strong relationships, professionalism and an outstanding team,” said Smith.

“We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved and are confident Renee is the right person to lead WSM into its next phase.

“I am deeply thankful for the opportunities the business and industry have given us, both professionally and personally.

“I am especially grateful to our clients, suppliers and team members whose contributions have been integral to our success. It has been an extraordinary experience, and it is now time for the next chapter of WSM to unfold under Renee’s leadership.”

Bennett will lead both Encanta and WALDRONSMITH Management, with the two companies continuing to operate independently under their existing brands.

“WALDRONSMITH Management’s reputation, people and values align strongly with those we hold at Encanta,” said Bennett.

“I am privileged to be entrusted to lead the business moving forward.”

Lexie Duncan, who stepped away from Encanta in 2021 after 15 years with the business, has rejoined the team, becoming general manager at WALDRONSMITH this month.

Meanwhile Nicole Bennett will continue on as GM of Encanta.

Smith is also staying on at WALDRONSMITH Management in a consultancy capacity for some months to enable a smooth transition.
