voco Gosford sets December opening date
The new-build voco Gosford in the Archibald precinct will open on December 1 on the Central Coast of New South Wales, approximately an hour’s drive from Sydney.
With 130 rooms, the hotel will also feature 700m2 of event space across two levels, including a rooftop ballroom on level 28, the Altitude Grand Ballroom, which has a maximum capacity of 378 in theatre. On level six, the Aviary Ballroom can seat 330 in theatre.
The hotel also has a podium pool, while within the broader precinct there are six F&B offerings, including a rooftop Japanese restaurant and bar called Astra.
“voco Gosford combines the charm and warmth of an independent hotel with the reassurance of a trusted global brand,” said IHG Hotels & Resorts’ managing director for Australasia and the Pacific, Matt Tripolone.
“Together with [developer] ALAND, we’re excited to introduce a property that embodies the playful spirit of the Central Coast while redefining coastal hospitality for locals and travellers alike.”
This is the fifth voco in Australia, with the brand making its global debut on the Gold Coast in 2018.
InterContinental Coogee to open this year
After a major upgrade, the former Crowne Plaza in Sydney’s beachside Coogee will reopen in two phases as InterContinental Coogee, starting this December.
An exact December date has not yet been revealed for the first opening phase.
The hotel will offer 198 rooms, including 22 suites. Celebrity chef Rick Stein will also open a 224-seat flagship restaurant within the hotel in December.
In the second phase, set for March 2026, a leisure deck with an infinity pool, a pool bar, a day spa, Club InterContinental and an outdoor event terrace will open.
The hotel also has several indoor event spaces.
April opening for Avani Mooloolaba
Minor Hotels is “on track” to open a premium Avani hotel 100m from Mooloolaba Beach on the Sunshine Coast in April 2026.
The 180-room property will feature a dedicated event floor on level three with space for up to 250 attendees.
The hotel will also offer a signature restaurant and bar on level 12, a rooftop pool and bar and a lobby bar, alongside a spa.
“Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel represents a key milestone for Minor Hotels Australasia,” said Minor Hotels Australasia’s chief operating officer, Craig Hooley.
“The Avani brand’s modern, connected and design-led approach perfectly complements the Sunshine Coast’s laid-back yet sophisticated lifestyle.
“This project fills a long-standing gap in new hotel development for the region and positions Mooloolaba for its next phase of tourism growth.”
The Sunshine Coast has not seen a premium, new-build, internationally-branded hotel opening in almost 40 years.
