Lisa Ronson, who was the chief marketing officer for Tourism Australia until 2019, died in a farm accident in Victoria over the weekend.

micenet understands Ronson died as the result of an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) crash on a farm she owns in regional Victoria.

Ronson was the chief marketing officer for Tourism Australia between 2015 and 2019. She moved on to head up marketing at Coles after she left the national tourism agency and had moved over to be Medibank’s chief marketing officer four months ago.

Ronson was also one of the keynote speakers at the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) this year.

Both Tourism Australia and Medibank have posted public tributes to Ronson.

“[Lisa] was a transformational leader at Tourism Australia,” said the agency in a LinkedIn post that had garnered over 2,370 reactions by Monday evening.

“During her tenure, Lisa oversaw the aquatic and coastal campaign, including signing Chris Hemsworth as an ambassador, the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards, our award-winning WHM campaign, Aussie News Today and the fantastic Un-discover Australia campaign in SSEA [South and Southeast Asia]. But of course, her most high profile work was certainly the Dundee Superbowl campaign.

“She was a prolific contributor to the marketing industry and passionate about great culture, great people and great work.”

Medibank has also made several public statements.

“Lisa brought a ray of light into Medibank in four short months as our chief marketing officer and has touched all of our lives with her huge heart, sharp wit, inspiring leadership and boundless passion for our vision,” said Milosh Milisavljevic, Medibank’s chief customer officer in a LinkedIn post that was shared via Medibank’s company page.

“She was brilliant, loved and respected by all who had the chance to spend time with her.

“She became a fast friend to a lot of us, and we found ourselves feeling like we’ve all been friends for years.

“Words can’t express how much she’ll be missed, and we feel grateful to have had the chance to be cared for and inspired by one of the great leaders and joyous humans in this country.”
