MCA inks new catering partnership
The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) has selected The Big Group as its exclusive caterer for events at the waterfront venue in The Rocks in Sydney.
The Big Group is taking over from Culinary Edge, who operated Graze Restaurant – already closed – and The Fresh Collective.
The Big Group will renovate MCA’s event spaces over the coming months.
The new caterer will also run MCA’s public facing hospitality offerings, including a new ground floor café, set to open in June and a revitalised offering on the fourth floor of the museum, where the MCA café currently operates.
“We could not be happier to be working with The Big Group as we look to ensure the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia is one of Sydney’s great cultural destinations,” said MCA director, Suzanne Cotter.
The Big Group already operates Ormond House in Melbourne and ILUMINA in Sydney amongst other venues, alongside offering catering services for conferences, gala dinners and other business events as well as catering for major events including The Australian Open and Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival.
The business has over 1,200 staff and more than 30 years’ experience.
“We are incredibly excited to partner with The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia and to bring innovative ideas and our expertise to the Museum, delivering the art of Australian hospitality via world-class, exceptional food and hospitality to visitors, partners and clients,” said The Big Group’s founder and owner, Bruce Keebaugh.
“MCA Australia is a globally recognised cultural destination in Sydney.
“We want to establish a place where great art and great food co-exists, and where visitors can engage more deeply with both, whilst enjoying the magnificent views of Warrane, Sydney Harbour at Circular Quay.”
