Trilogy Hotels makes more inroads into the Sydney hotel management market
Young hotel management business Trilogy Hotels has picked up two more hotels for its growing portfolio.

Trilogy Hotels has already begun managing the 252-room Holiday Inn Sydney Airport and will take on what is currently the 196-room Courtyard by Marriott, Sydney North Ryde from January 1, 2025.

Both of these hotels are set to transition to the Crowne Plaza brand under IHG Hotels & Resorts. The airport hotel is set to take on its new identity in September 2024, while the Macquarie Park property will take on Crowne Plaza branding in early 2025.

Both properties are undergoing refurbishment to transition to their new brands. Both hotels will stay open as they move to Crowne Plaza.

Having undergone a $15 million refurbishment in 2022, the Holiday Inn Sydney Airport will undergo further works to its lobby and restaurant, while the Macquarie Park property will have a more comprehensive refurb of its guest rooms and lobby.

Both hotels have meeting space – in Macquarie Park there are six meeting spaces with a collective footprint of 193m2 while the airport hotel has over 300m2 of dedicated event space across five rooms.

The two properties are owned by Frank and Wade Huang of Star Millennium, who have appointed Trilogy Hotels to manage them.

“Trilogy Hotels is delighted to be appointed by a wonderful family of hoteliers, the Huang Family, to manage their iconic properties,” said Trilogy Hotels CEO, Scott Boyes.

“I have known Frank and Wade for many years, and we are thrilled to forge this new path with them.

“Together, we will be driving growth with a common set of values and a shared vision for how hotels should be operated. We are grateful to Frank and Wade for putting their trust in us and are excited about our partnership and journey ahead.

“Under the Trilogy ecosystem, a hotel brand plays a crucial role, and both hotels will leverage Crowne Plaza’s strong and globally established branding and IHG’s phenomenal customer base, loyalty program, and distribution network to help drive bookings.

“It’s fantastic to work alongside Matt Tripolone and the IHG Hotels & Resorts team on this exciting new partnership. Together with our teams, we are committed to creating an amazing hotel experience for our guests.”

Since launching in December last year, Trilogy Hotels has picked up several hotel contracts – these latest two make seven hotels currently locked in for their portfolio, totalling around 1,700 rooms.

Other hotels under management with Trilogy Hotels include Pullman Sydney Penrith and the associated Western Sydney Conference Centre, Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains and three other properties owned by the Schwartz Family Company.

“We believe both of our assets have so much to gain from this new model with our accomplished partners Trilogy Hotels and IHG Hotels & Resorts,” said Wade Huang.

“This is an exciting milestone and we look forward to taking full advantage of Trilogy’s agile, bespoke and experienced approach to hotel operations.”
