The Destination Marketplace event will see DMCs from Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, New Zealand and South America showcase their international destination knowledge at the Park Hyatt Sydney on February 13.
With AIME wrapping up on February 12, many DMCs will be in Australia for the show.
The event has been prompted by signs of strong outbound incentive activity for the Asia Pacific.
The recent Incentive Travel Index had incentive buyers from APAC as the most positive globally for an uptick in incentive travel activity over the next two years. Asia Pacific was the only region where more than 50 per cent of buyers expect to see an increase in activity.
“We have more of our international clients travelling to Australia next year than we’ve ever had before and that is because they recognise that international corporate meetings and incentive travel rewards are extremely strong and getting stronger,” said Tourism Portfolio’s general manager, Sharon Levingston.
“They will be exhibiting at AIME in Melbourne and then extending their stay in Sydney to exhibit at Destination Marketplace to meet with agencies and meeting and incentive planners who can’t attend AIME or did so and only had limited time to catch up.”
One of the European DMCs who will be attending, Terra Events, has Australia as one of its strongest incentive markets. The company has offices in Italy, Spain, Portugal and France.
“We continue to support the Australian market as they have supported us, and we believe that with the increasing necessity of incentive travel rewards to recognise and reward employees, we expect more business from `Down Under’ in the coming years,” said Terra Events CEO Heather Williams.
There will also be a handful of Australian venues showcasing from the New South Wales Southern Highlands and South Coast.
