Tourism New Zealand’s business events team has brought in two consultants from GainingEdge to provide in-market support in Southeast Asia to help grow conference and incentive business to New Zealand from the nearby region.
GainingEdge is a Melbourne-headquartered business events consultancy founded in 2004 by Gary Grimmer, former head of what is now Melbourne Convention Bureau.
Based in Singapore, Esther Ng brings nearly 25 years of experience in tourism, hospitality and business events to the task of growing New Zealand incentive leads from Southeast Asia.
Meanwhile, Annie Tay is based in Kuala Lumpur and will focus on growing conference leads from Southeast Asian associations. Tay has spent over two decades in the business events industry.
“Having Esther and Annie on the ground to build relationships face-to-face with partners is crucial,” said Tourism New Zealand’s global manager of business events, Penelope Ryan.
“Their vast industry knowledge and contacts will help us grow in-market awareness of New Zealand’s business events offering even faster.
“New Zealand rates highly in terms of appeal in Asia and has all the necessary support infrastructure that meetings and events need, like accommodation, world-class venues and a growing roster of direct flights.
“Add innovative thinkers in key sectors, unique Māori culture, and tailored support for conferences and incentives, and New Zealand can fulfil the needs of a successful event 100%.”
