The St. Regis Singapore embarks on a major transformation

The St. Regis Singapore is undergoing an extensive makeover of its guest rooms and suites, F&B facilities and meeting spaces.

The new look for the John Jacob Ballroom was unveiled in early June.

By day, two skylights allow natural daylight to filter down on corporate meetings and luncheons. The ambience warms up in the evening, augmenting sunset receptions and candlelit celebrations.

“This redesign allows us to honour our legacy as the ‘House of Celebrations’ while evolving with the intention to ensure that we remain relevant to the needs of today’s discerning hosts and guests,” said Allen Howden, general manager of The St. Regis Singapore.

“As Singapore sets its sights on tripling MICE tourism by 2040, we are proud to contribute meaningfully to that vision with a space that is both timeless and future-ready.”

The 710m2 ballroom seats 500 pax theatre-style or 400 at banquets. It divides into two rooms for smaller events. Tech enhancements include two new LED video walls, intelligent lighting and superior sound systems.

Being near the Singapore Botanic Gardens, foliage is a dominant theme, from the chandeliers and lights to the carpet.

Other new features are a built-in bar in the foyer, a VIP room next to the ballroom and a tea room.

St. Regis is well known for its afternoon tea ritual. For business events, afternoon breaks are presented on three-tiered tea stands for up to 120 pax. An upgraded option includes sparkling tea served in champagne glasses with five savouries, four sweets, two types of scones, clotted cream and a selection of jams.

Howden added: “We always look for ways to elevate the St. Regis experience, such as a Champagne Sabrage at the start or end of an event, with a minimum purchase of six bottles of champagne.”

Another exclusive is a Bloody Mary live station in the foyer bar for up to 120 pax, with a free flow of two types of Bloody Marys for one hour – the classic version and The St. Regis Singapore Signature Bloody Mary.

A one-hour cocktail reception features the chef’s selection of three canapés with free-flowing soft drinks, beer and house-pour spirits.

Six meeting rooms on level one will be refurbished in Q3 of 2025. By Q4, all 299 guest rooms and suites will be renovated and sustainable features included, such as motion-activated LED lighting.

Noting the hotel’s popularity for high-society social celebrations and government events, Howden said both corporate business and weddings are important, with business events held mainly on weekdays and weddings during weekends.

“We see good traction for conferences, award ceremonies, gala dinners and weddings,” he said.
