TFE appoints Ben Mellor to helm The EVE Hotel Sydney
Ben Mellor has been selected to run TFE Hotels’ newest Sydney property, The EVE, scheduled to open this summer.

Mellor joins TFE from IHG Hotels and Resorts, where he was GM of the InterContinental Double Bay. Prior to this, he was at the helm of Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ben onboard as the opening general manager for The EVE Hotel Sydney,” said Emma Soutter, TFE Hotels’ regional general manager for NSW and the ACT.

“Ben is highly regarded across the industry for his ability to connect with people and deliver an incredible guest experience, which completely aligns with The EVE’s focus on delivering personalised, high-touch service at every turn.

“His experience and willingness to experiment and drive innovative dining and lifestyle concepts is something we know will resonate with the hotel’s clientele, and other visitors to the Wunderlich precinct more broadly in the months to come.”

The 102-room hotel is located within Wunderlich Lane, at the top of Crown St and at the intersection of Surry Hills and Redfern. The precinct is also set to be home to event spaces, restaurants, bars, wellness and beauty services, fresh food markets and boutique retailers. The first food and beverage offerings will open next month.

The EVE and the wider precinct are pulling in some well-credentialled hospitality ventures – Liquid & Larder, the team behind acclaimed steak restaurant The Gidley, are in charge of the food and beverage offering at the hotel, while the group behind The Apollo in Sydney and Yoko in Brisbane will bring Olympus Dining to the precinct.

The EVE is also currently seeking talent for several roles, including an executive assistant manager and guest experience manager. Liquid & Larder are also looking for chefs, venue managers, wait staff and others for the hotel’s culinary offering.

“We have a unique opportunity to showcase our authentic Sydney story to our guests,” said Mellor.

“So, we’re on the lookout for truly exceptional hospitality professionals, who not only embody our brand values, but love Redfern and Surry Hills, and have hospitality and the guest experience at their core.”

The hotel will offer a rooftop deck, swimming pool, bar and restaurant and a lower-level lobby bar.
