Rens Breur joins Pan Pacific Perth

Rens Breur has returned to Australia to take the helm at Pan Pacific Perth, as it prepares to reveal the results of a major renovation.

“It’s an honour to lead the team at Pan Pacific Perth at such a defining moment,” he said.

“This transformation represents more than a renovation – it signals the beginning of a new chapter for one of Perth’s most iconic landmark hotels.

“With reimagined guestrooms, the city’s largest hotel event space, and a commitment to sustainable luxury woven throughout, we’re focused on delivering what meaningful hospitality and service excellence looks like today.

“I’m inspired by the team’s dedication and look forward to welcoming guests as we unveil this exciting new era in May.”

Breur joins Pan Pacific Perth from The Fine Hotels & Suites Collection in the Netherlands where he was managing director of operations and development.

Previously, Breur spent nine years in Australia, in senior roles with luxury properties including The Langham, Melbourne, Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour and Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach.

He has also worked in upscale and luxury properties in Macau and Canada.

Altogether, Breur brings more than 30 years of experience to his new role in Perth.

Minor Hotels appoints GM for Queen’s Wharf Residences

Minor Hotels has appointed Yun Bai as the general manager at the apartment hotel offering at Brisbane’s major new development Queen’s Wharf.

Bai’s appointment is an internal move at Minor Hotels, where she has worked in various roles over nearly eight years.

Most recently she was cluster general manager for Minor Hotels in Brisbane while previous roles with the group have included being the pre-opening manager for Oaks Hotel Cairns and the hotel manager for Oaks Brisbane on Charlotte Suites.

Bai also spent more than six years with Stamford Hotels & Resorts in Australia prior to joining Minor Hotels.

“Yun has an impressive record leading hotels to success and creating exceptional guest experiences and her commitment to innovation, performance culture and developing teams will be key to establishing this hotel as a pillar within our Brisbane portfolio,” said Minor Hotels chief operating officer for Australasia, Craig Hooley.

With a mother who worked in hospitality management for decades, Bai says she grew up in the industry.

“I love the way [the industry] never stands still. There is always a new trend to embrace and a new challenge to overcome and that constant evolution keeps me motivated.

“I have been fortunate to work with some incredible leaders over the years, and I’ve learned by observing how they have navigated change, performed under pressure and kept their teams inspired and engaged.

“I find creating memorable moments for guests incredibly rewarding and I am honoured to lead the talented team at Queen’s Wharf Residences and to build a culture where excellence is recognised, voices are heard, and everyone feels supported to step into leadership roles.

“Mentorship is so important – it’s how we build the next generation of extraordinary hospitality professionals,” she said.

Minor Hotels is managing approximately 200 apartments within Queen’s Wharf Residences, which is also a residential building.

The spacious and slick one, two and three bedroom apartments under management with Minor Hotels all have full kitchens and laundry facilities, balconies and an open plan layout.

Scott Breen joins Courtyard by Marriott Melbourne Flagstaff Gardens

Scott Breen has hopped from one Marriott International property to another, moving down from the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Gold Coast to lead the team at the Melbourne Courtyard by Marriott property near Flagstaff Gardens.

Breen has over 15 years of hotel experience, including a combined seven-plus years with Ritz-Carlton properties in Canada. He has also worked with the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and Park Hyatt brands.

“The results this hotel has achieved in just three years are truly impressive,” said Breen of his new Melbourne property.

“I was drawn to the boutique feel and the close-knit culture of the team here.

“I’m excited to become part of the Courtyard by Marriott family – Marriott’s most prevalent brand globally – and to help build on the strong foundation already in place.”

The property has five indoor meeting rooms with the largest able to accommodate 150 pax in theatre. There is also an all-weather rooftop event space for 100.
