Turkish Airlines, who began flying from Sydney to Istanbul in late 2024 will progressively increase the frequency of the route, from the current four services a week to daily on January 12 next year.
The European carrier will add a fifth service each week from mid-June and a sixth service at the end of October.
While the service currently stops in Kuala Lumpur, contingent on receiving the necessary aircraft, Turkish Airlines plans to make the service non-stop next year.
Meanwhile Hong Kong Airlines is set to commence daily flights between Sydney and Hong Kong from June 20, bumping up the frequency on this route, which is already serviced by both Qantas and Cathay Pacific.
With the addition of Hong Kong Airlines, there will be six flights a day between Sydney and Hong Kong.
Hong Kong remains Sydney’s third busiest international city route, after Singapore and Auckland.
And domestically, Busselton, the gateway to Western Australia’s Margaret River wine region, is set to get an intrastate connection, with Qantas announcing flights between the regional destination in the state’s southwest and WA’s capital Perth.
From June 27, 2025, Qantas will begin flying three times a week between Perth and Busselton, turning a 2.5 hour car journey into a 45-minute flight.
The route will be serviced on a Monday, Friday and Sunday.
The flights will benefit event groups looking to make use of Busselton’s soon-to-open convention venue, Saltwater Busselton, or local and international groups wishing to host incentive activities in Margaret River.
