“MEETINGS 2024 will be our biggest in recent memory, showcasing the very best products, services, venues and destinations [in] New Zealand, plus a packed schedule of professional development and learning opportunities,” said Lisa Hopkins, chief executive of Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA) which owns and operates the show.
“This year’s destination, Rotorua, is proving to be a drawcard for both exhibitors and buyers who are excited to experience New Zealand’s cultural heartland and immerse themselves in the restorative qualities of this special place and meet its people.”
With 35 new exhibitors at MEETINGS 2024, there will be fresh ideas for hosted and visitor buyers to explore.
First-time exhibitors include Wai Ariki Hot Springs and Spa, a new and already-award winning product in Rotorua itself, and Ayrburn, a collection of restored event spaces in Arrowtown in Queenstown.
With MEETINGS 2023 certified carbon neutral by Toitū Envirocare, a New Zealand environmental accreditation organisation, BEIA are looking to have this year’s event follow suit.
Flights for hosted buyers are being offset by Air New Zealand’s FlyNeutral initiative, excess food from the show’s catering will be donated to Feeding Rotorua where possible or turned into bio-gas, stock feed or fertiliser by Ecostock.
Toitū is also working with the MEETINGS organising team to develop resources for exhibitors to help them lower the carbon footprint of their participation.
Attendees are being encouraged to bring reusable coffee cups, water bottles and their own bags and to use the MEETINGS app. And, in lieu of hosted buyer gifts, hosted buyers can choose which charity MEETINGS should donate to.
Rotorua is hosting MEETINGS for the first time in 13 years. More than 220 hosted buyers and media – micenet included – are expected to attend the event running June 18-20.
