It is also sporting a more colourful look, with the tagline “Playground of Possibilities”.
“Our spaces can be transformed to suit events of any proportions or types, which gives us a unique opportunity to convene global communities and host world-class summits, festivals and exhibitions,” said Chua Wee Phong, group CEO of Constellar, which operates the venue.
He said EXPO would “continue to be a platform for sustainable business growth, empowering the industry to create events with meaningful impact”.
Singapore’s largest purpose-built MICE venue is well known for its 10 exhibition halls and 32 meeting rooms. Hall 7 is now Arena @ EXPO, a concert hall designed for mid-sized concerts of 3,000 to 6,000 attendees. With a standing pen and/or tiered seating, it can also be used for conferences and award ceremonies.
The refurbished 800-seat food park MarketPlace @ EXPO offers a variety of food and beverage concepts and stalls. TAG Restaurant & Bar may be booked for private events and BMP Studio for product launches or hosted events. The food trucks can also be booked for casual and quick lunches.
While the venue’s Kinetic Kitchen caters to large-scale events, the K2 Chef’s Table serves tailored menus for 12 to 18 diners.
Hall 1 was converted to Apex @ EXPO in January 2020, just before the pandemic. The modular infrastructure may be customised for different types of events and audience sizes, switching from flat-floored to tiered seating when needed.
While trade exhibitions are still Singapore EXPO’s forte, more enquiries and bookings are also coming in for business conferences, particularly from the medical industry.
Another trend is European organisers, especially from Germany, the UK and the Netherlands, keen to geo-clone their existing shows and extend their reach to Asia.
“Organisers appreciate Singapore EXPO’s accessibility to the airport. They also like the flexibility and versatility of our event spaces to expand their shows in Singapore over time, building on their events’ strong credentials,” said Khoo Yew Jin, vice president of brand and customer experience at Constellar.
“Our flexible meeting rooms appeal to Australia and New Zealand-based associations and corporates in the scientific, medical and education sectors for hosting smaller APAC meetings and incentives,” he added.
On creative staging, Khoo cited a wellness company’s annual incentive celebration which saw three halls transformed into an immersive experience. The central hall featured a live stage, while the two adjacent halls displayed live-feed screens to keep attendees engaged.
The EXPO Advantage Program offers event support through suppliers and service providers.
