Expressions of interest to design and deliver “milestone events” for the Brisbane Olympics have opened.

The contract currently accepting EOIs for event strategy and experience design for the Brisbane Olympics is for “strategic planning, design and delivery of milestone events, ceremonies and public engagement experiences for Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games operations”.

In all 50 service supply contracts have been put out to market for the Brisbane Olympics in 2032.

Many of them are technical as the organising committee looks for companies to design the systems to manage everything from food and beverage to media content and accommodation. Other contracts cover services for planning, delivery and decommissioning of temporary infrastructure and services for the Olympics, the supply of fencing, flags, banners and backdrops, visual installations, power supply, tent structures, temporary stands and seating and other specialist structures.

By the time the Games are delivered, $2.5 billion will have been spent with suppliers to the major global event, across hundreds of contracts.

“Hosting an Olympic and Paralympic Games provides an ideal opportunity to drive economic growth through contracts and jobs, and we’re determined to ensure Queensland people and businesses are front and centre of this economic opportunity,” said Queensland’s Olympic Games minister, Tim Mander.

“I encourage businesses of all sizes across Queensland to engage with the Brisbane 2032 procurement program. This is your chance to be part of history and to help us create lasting economic benefits that extend well beyond 2032.

“We want this to be a Games for Queensland, by Queensland.”

The organising committee for Brisbane 2032 is also taking its Meet the Brisbane 2032 Buyer Roadshow to regional areas, to help businesses understand how to become a supplier to the Olympics.

The first stop of the regional roadshow will take place in Cairns on 13 November.
