A critical showcase in Thailand
TCEB’s major annual famil, the reshaped Thailand Innovative Meetings Exchange (TIME), in June has delivered strong leads for the Southeast Asian nation.
According to the bureau, the famil has generated 64 anticipated events which are expected to bring 36,199 business events visitors to Thailand and inject THB2,389.13 million (around AU$103.85 million) into the Thai economy.
The event was attended by more than 40 international buyers alongside hundreds from the local business events industry.
TIME 2024 comprised three elements – a knowledge exchange, a business exchange and an experience exchange. The knowledge and business exchange were held in the country’s capital, Bangkok, at the InterContinental Bangkok and the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC). The experience exchange and a second part of the business exchange were held in Chiang Mai, a major business events destination in northern Thailand.
“TIME is crucial as we face economic constraints while the pressure to deliver more value and return on investment rises,” said TCEB’s president, Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya.
“We reshaped the content and program of TIME 2024 to be more inspiring, motivating, meaningful and engaging, making us more competitive.
“TIME has become a showcase of innovation, not only for knowledge, business and experience but also for uniting people of different generations to collaborate, enhancing the quality of the MICE industry, and contributing more to the economy and society.”

The Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef Showcase takes the tropics south
The bureau took 18 operators on a tour of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne at the end of July, to drum up conference, incentive and corporate meeting business for Cairns, Palm Cove and Port Douglas.
The destination held a lunch in Brisbane, a breakfast in Sydney and cocktails in Melbourne.
“The three events gave us the opportunity to meet 100 association and corporate buyers, professional conference organisers and destination management companies,” said TTNQ’s general manager of partnerships and events, Tara Bennett.
“We took 45kg of local produce to set up a display in each city showcasing the diversity of tropical food and beverages from our region which can be used as delegate gifts.
“Each delegate then got to select what they would like to have as a gift with chocolate, coffee, tea, dried fruit, macadamia nuts, chilli sauces, lollies, worstershire sauce, spices and dukkah among the choices.
“At each event we launched two new videos with one targeting the association market and the other the incentive market which were well received by the buyers as a useful tool to showcase the destination and its business event capabilities.”
Cairns will be in the business events spotlight again next month, when it hosts a special edition of Australia Next – formerly known as Dreamtime – Tourism Australia’s signature incentive showcase.
