The Liberal Government will unveil its delivery plan on March 25.
The results of a current review into infrastructure for the event will be publicly released on the same day, although the government will receive the report more than two weeks earlier on March 8.
“The Crisafulli Government will deliver the plan that will finally put Queensland on the right track to make the most of this once-in-a-generation opportunity,” said Queensland’s Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie. He is also the minister for state development, infrastructure and planning and the industrial relations minister.
“The Crisafulli Government is focused on delivering generational infrastructure and a world class event.
“With a Delivery Plan guided by the experts, Queenslanders won’t be embarrassed on the world stage.
“The Crisafulli Government will deliver generational infrastructure, a 20-year tourism plan and an Olympics and Paralympic Games all Queenslanders will be proud of.”
Despite Brisbane being announced as the 2032 Olympic host in mid-2021, the previous Labor government struggled with the venue plan. The original plan to knock down and rebuild the Gabba was put on ice, before an independent review of Olympic venues was undertaken.
When the recommendations of the review were released, the government rejected the key recommendation to build a new stadium to the north of the Brisbane CBD and instead decided to refurbish several existing venues to make them Games ready.
The current Liberal Government, helmed by Premier David Crisafulli, was elected in October and set its own infrastructure review in motion late last year.
The current review is being undertaken by the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority.
