Included in the first stage of opening is the 340-room hotel, The Star Grand, the Events Centre, with its 2,000m2 ballroom, pre-function bar with water views and 90m2 outdoor terrace, the Sky Deck 100m above the city, several restaurants and the Neville Bonner Bridge, connecting Queen’s Wharf to South Bank and the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Star Grand, including 60 suites and four Skyline Penthouse Suites, is fully booked for its opening weekend.
Restaurants opening today include Luke Nguyen’s Fat Noodle and Japanese restaurant, Sokyo. Several other restaurants and bars are scheduled to open at Queen’s Wharf through the rest of 2024.
The precinct has been almost a decade in the making and has several more stages of opening in store, which will include two more hotels – a Dorsett and a Rosewood hotel.
“Today is a historic occasion not just for Brisbane, but all of Australia,” said The Star Brisbane CEO, Daniel Finch.
“Our incredible team of nearly 3,000 dedicated individuals have poured heart and soul into creating a resort that will redefine entertainment and hospitality standards in our city,” said Finch.
“We are thrilled to welcome everyone to experience the magic and momentum of The Star Brisbane, a destination that has been years in the making and is set to elevate our city onto the global stage.”
Over 120 events are booked in at Queen’s Wharf between today and the end of the financial year.
Outdoor spaces The Landing, the Leisure Deck and the Sky Deck will all be able to host exclusive business events groups of around 1,000 attendees, in addition to The Events Centre’s indoor capacity.
In other news from The Star, the second tower at The Star Gold Coast has topped out and is expected to open in early 2025.
The tower includes a 202-room five-star hotel – the brand of which is yet to be announced – and 437 apartments which have all been sold.
