Queen’s Wharf declares official opening date
The $3.6 billion Queen’s Wharf development on Brisbane River will begin opening from August 29.

The new skyline-changing precinct includes significant event space and, in the fullness of time, several hotels, including Australia’s first Rosewood.

The opening will be phased and run through September and the remainder of 2024.

“Not everything will open all at once on day one,” said said The Star Brisbane’s CEO, Daniel Finch.

“We want to ensure our team members are prepared, our facilities have been tested, our processes are right and importantly our guests have an exceptional experience that they will talk about and come back to experience again.”

Openings on August 29 include the much anticipated hero of the development, the Sky Deck, which wraps around the centrepiece of Queen’s Wharf, 100m above the city. The Sky Deck will be available for exclusive events of around 1,000 attendees.

The largest outdoor event space within the precinct, the Leisure Deck on level seven, will also open on August 29, while the third major outdoor event space, The Landing, on the riverfront, will open after Brisbane Riverfire, which takes place on August 31.

The 340-room Star Grand hotel will also open on August 29. The hotel includes four penthouse suites at 217m2 each.

The Star Brisbane’s Events Centre, with its ballroom of over 2,000m2, will begin hosting events in September.

“Like the rest of Brisbane, I am excited for this game-changing development to invigorate the CBD, including our nighttime economy,” said Finch.

“Fittingly, public spaces will be among the first areas to be opened and that includes the viewing platform on Sky Deck, Miller Park, and of course the Neville Bonner Bridge linking Queen’s Wharf to South Bank.

“We are thrilled to be commencing our phased opening to coincide with Brisbane’s biggest party, Brisbane Festival, however the transformed grassed public areas along the river including The Landing and Finger Wharves will open after Riverfire.

“The Event Centre is ready to host a full calendar of events and conferences from early September,” he said.

“And we are preparing at full throttle to welcome our first guests to the five-star The Star Grand with bookings to open very soon.”

Several restaurant openings are coming in the first phase of Queen’s Wharf’s opening, including Fat Noodle by Luke Nguyen.

A Rosewood hotel and a Dorsett hotel are set to open in the next phase of Queen’s Wharf.
