Qantas extends direct service between Perth and Rome
Australia’s national carrier will extend its seasonal service between Australia’s west coast and the Italian city by eight weeks in 2026.

Next year the service will run from May 3 to October 23, giving conference and incentive delegates from either Europe or Australia more direct options between the two continents.

The airline will also add an extra flight each week between June 27 and September 26, with three flights a week operating either side of the peak period and four operating during the peak.

Together, these two moves will almost double capacity on the seasonal service, adding nearly 10,000 seats to the route and over 40 services.

“Rome is one of Europe’s most iconic destinations and our nonstop flight is incredibly popular with customers who tell us they love being able to depart Perth in the evening and wake up in Rome,” said Qantas International CEO, Cam Wallace.

“As over half the customers on our Rome flights originate from the east of Australia, our Italian flights are timed to connect seamlessly in Perth with our domestic services from the east coast.

“Almost doubling our capacity means even more Australians can experience our nonstop European routes, which have some of the highest customer satisfaction scores on our international network.

“Our long-haul flights from Perth have been game-changing for Western Australia and next year will be our biggest yet, with nearly 300,000 seats connecting the major European capitals of London, Paris and Rome nonstop with Perth.”

Nonstop services between Perth and both London and Paris on Qantas operate year-round.

Under the airline’s Project Sunrise, direct flights from Sydney to London will begin in the semi near future, with the first aircraft for the ultra-long haul services expected to arrive in Australia in October 2026.
