New summit experience launched for Brisbane’s Story Bridge climb
Brisbane’s bridge climb offering continues to expand in Australia’s relatively crowded bridge climbing market.

After launching a world-first accessible climb in April this year, the Story Bridge Adventure Climb now offers the opportunity to have a drink at the summit of the structure.

The “Toast at the Top” experience, in which climbers can enjoy a beer from Felons or a Champayne at the peak of the bridge, involves the attraction’s lead climbers carrying a bag of beverage supplies that is tied to their climbing lead and the bridge itself, so that there is no risk of dropping items from a height of up to 80m above sea level.

“We’ve been so thrilled that so many people have chosen to share their special moments with us,” said Luke Fraser, CEO of Artemus Group, which owns the bridge climb experience and Howard Smith Wharves, where the experience begins and ends, following a profound reorientation at the start of this year.

“From anniversaries, special occasions and milestone birthdays, we’ve even had proposals on top of the bridge. This experience is a little special something to toast and celebrate life’s special moments.

“Just like many other tourist attractions around the country, there is a way to manage safety and celebration. We will continue to ensure guests do not exceed 0.05 blood alcohol level, just as we have always done.

“The safety of our guests is our number one priority and one beer or a glass of bubbles at the top will only enhance people’s experience, not detract.

“The Story Bridge Adventure Climb is truly a must-do experience in Brisbane with views out to the Glasshouse Mountains, Moreton Bay and of course of our beautiful city.”

With Australia containing the highest concentration of bridge climb experiences in the world – three – each of the climbs have developed unique offerings.

BridgeClimb Sydney offers an Indigenous climb and the opportunity to have a musician play for climbers at the summit, while the Matagarup Zip+Climb in Perth allows climbers to take a 400m zipline from partway up the climb.

All three climbs have options for groups.
