New Singapore Oceanarium targets business events
The Singapore Oceanarium at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) opened on July 23, triple the size of its aquarium predecessor, and with a plan to be more than a leisure attraction by drawing business events.

Blending immersive marine environments with purposeful programming, it can host corporate groups ranging from small teams to gatherings of up to 250 participants. This makes it a good venue for incentive events, offsite meetings, team retreats and networking receptions.

RWS shared some exciting ideas with micenet, such as providing atmospheric venues for business events.

The Whale Fall and Sea Mount zone features dynamic lighting and soundscapes. It can hold standing receptions for up to 250 guests or 150 pax at round tables.

The Open Ocean zone offers a visually stunning and memorable dining setting. Set against a 36m wide viewing panel, the largest in the oceanarium, 220 delegates can dine banquet-style in the Ocean Gallery. Smaller 50-pax groups may prefer the adjoining Ocean Restaurant.

Small groups can also have meals at Explorer’s Nook, near the Omani dhow display.

For immersive experiences, such as team building, ‘Another Future’ sets participants in a future world devastated by plastic pollution. Teams collaborate through multi-sensory missions that challenge critical thinking and teamwork while promoting environmental awareness.

Designed as either a standalone session or part of a broader agenda, the 90-minute program offers a meaningful, interactive alternative to typical conference activities.

For larger groups, the ‘Ocean Discovery Experience’ provides a guided journey through the oceanarium’s 22 zones, deepening understanding of marine ecosystems while reinforcing environmental messages.

Corporate rates apply to a minimum of 30 tickets purchased for the attraction.

Corporate groups also have the option of exclusive venue buyouts, transforming events such as product launches or receptions into unforgettable, ocean-themed experiences.

“Singapore Oceanarium is available for exclusive corporate buyouts, offering a one-of-a-kind venue with immersive, purpose-built zones,” said a spokesperson for RWS.

Complementing the Oceanarium is the adjacent Research and Learning Centre, a purpose-built facility with immersive learning labs, the Wave – a flexible space for informal meetings and collaboration, the Edutorium with digital streaming for interactive seminars and the Beacon, a rooftop venue with panoramic views, suitable for networking and private events.

The centre has already hosted an international workshop and educational initiatives, underscoring its capacity for impactful knowledge-sharing events and commitment to marine conservation through local and regional partnerships.

“Singapore Oceanarium can transform corporate events into unforgettable journeys. Whether it is a team building adventure or an exclusive buyout, we offer immersive spaces that spark connection, purpose and wonder – all within one of Asia’s leading ocean institutes,” said the RWS spokesperson.

To attract more foreign delegates, RWS is offering one complimentary room for every 20 paid hotel rooms. For every 50 international attendees, charges are waived for the next 10 attendees for one-time usage across the event period.

Resorts World Sentosa is located on Sentosa, an island off the main Singapore island, which offers a plethora of hotels and attractions, as well as considerable indoor and outdoor event space.
