New Singapore hotels offer unconventional venues for business events
Two new Chinatown hotels – 21 Carpenter and Mondrian Singapore Duxton – don’t have conventional meeting spaces but offer creative venues and set-ups for business and social events through flexibility and creativity.

Boutique hotel 21 Carpenter comprises a four-storey, conserved building which was once a remittance agency and a five-storey, newly-built extension. It has only 48 rooms and suites, a rooftop infinity pool and lounge, garden terrace and restaurant. The hotel can turn the public areas, including the lobby, into cozy event venues with F&B service.

“Our boutique nature brings a distinctive atmosphere and intimate setting, allowing for flexible customisation to craft unforgettable experiences, including the option for full hotel buyouts. The hotel’s social spaces effortlessly merge to offer diverse functionalities,” said Clara Beh, director of sales for 21 Carpenter.

The rooftop indoor lounge and outdoor pool area hold up to 25 people for meetings and events. At evening cocktail parties, guests take in magnificent views of the civic district and Marina Bay.

The sheltered Garden Terrace blends greenery with modern architecture for events of up to 30 pax. Kee’s, positioned as a “neo-bistro and bar”, can be sectioned off for private events of up to 20 pax. Michelin-starred chef Andrew Walsh can customise the European-influenced menu.

The 302-room Mondrian Singapore Duxton may be unique in not having dedicated event facilities, but it has nine F&B outlets and the four hotel-operated offerings are available for exclusive events.

All-day café and bar Christina’s can host a 50-pax seated breakfast, lunch or dinner, with or without corporate presentations. Standing events take up to 80 guests.

Modern Italian eatery Bottega di Carna seats 120 pax for a private lunch or dinner, or up to 250 standing. A semi-privatised area sits up to 40 pax.

The eclectic Jungle Ballroom bar is available for private events. Drinks gatherings are also possible at the rooftop Canyon Club bar and poolside.

In addition, the five Shophouse Suites may be transformed from stays to meeting and party venues. They can be used individually or strung together, such as for luxury goods displays, product workshops and corporate meetings. There is private access from the hotel garden and hotel carpark.

At the newly built, 142-room Artyzen Singapore off Orchard Road, the Roof Garden with cantilevered infinity pool can be used for invigorating morning workouts, evening cocktail receptions and networking soirées. With adaptable table arrangements and event layouts, capacity ranges between 60 and 80 pax.
