Following the departure of Brent Hill, Tourism Fiji has appointed its next CEO, while the soon-to-open Hannah St. Hotel in Melbourne has its first general manager.

Meet Tourism Fiji’s new CEO

Dr. Paresh Pant has been appointed CEO of Tourism Fiji.

Pant will begin his new role with the national tourism agency in the middle of next month and comes to the position with over 25 years of experience in leadership roles in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

With his career spanning tourism, aviation and hospitality, Pant has previous held senior positions with Tourism Fiji, including as regional director in both Australia and New Zealand.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Pant back to Tourism Fiji at a pivotal time for the industry,” said chair of the Tourism Fiji board, Ilisapeci Matatolu.

“His proven record of driving growth in key markets, combined with his deep understanding of Fiji’s tourism landscape, made him the clear choice for this role.

“He not only brings a wealth of global experience but also a genuine passion for Fiji and its people.

“The board looks forward to working with him to strengthen Fiji’s brand globally, grow sustainable visitor numbers, and ensure our communities benefit from the tourism sector.”

Fiji’s deputy prime minister, Viliame Gavoka, expressed confidence in Pant’s appointment “at a crucial time for the industry, as we chart a course towards long-term growth”.

Pant said he was honoured to take on the role.

“Tourism is at the heart of Fiji’s economy and identity, and I am committed to building on our strong foundations to ensure long-term, sustainable growth that benefits our communities, industry partners and the nation as a whole,” he said.

Pant’s predecessor, Hill, was recently announced as the chief marketing officer for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.

Peter Minatsis has joined TFE Hotels

GM appointed for Hannah St. Hotel

TFE Hotels has appointed Peter Minatsis as the general manager of the 188-room Hannah St. Hotel, due to open near Melbourne’s convention centre this summer.

Minatsis moves over from Le Méridien Melbourne, where he was the pre-opening general manager. He has spent more than 20 years with Marriott International and its acquisition, Starwood, working at properties in Canada, Australia and Fiji, mostly under the Sheraton and Westin brands.

“We’re delighted to welcome Peter to the team as we prepare to open a hotel that reflects the design, culture and character of its surrounds,” said TFE Hotels’ group chief operating officer, Chris Sedgwick.

“His approach aligns beautifully with the hotel’s design-forward vision and the guest experience we’re looking to create.”

“With his breadth of experience, steady leadership and creative mindset, Peter is the ideal choice to open and lead Hannah St. Hotel.

“His ability to foster high-performing teams and collaborate across all aspects of the operation – from guest experience and service to design, shared services and the broader Queensbridge development – will be instrumental to the hotel’s success.”

Minatsis said he “couldn’t be more excited” for his new role.

“Hannah St. Hotel is one of the most exciting new hotel experiences to launch in Melbourne – layered and considered in design, rich in local character and unapologetically original. It feels like the kind of place Melbourne has been waiting for.”
