Roach moves over from Hyatt where he was director of sales and marketing for Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney, which opened at roughly the same time as the 25hours property, in October last year.
He has previously spent six and a half years, over two separate stints, with Accor, as well as working for Langham Hospitality Group, in business development and sales roles in both hotel groups.
The 25hours brand sits under Ennismore, which is in a joint venture with Accor.
“The culture we’ve built at 25hours has always been about bringing together great people with fresh ideas, and Peter is exactly that,” said 25hours Hotel The Olympia general manager, Jake Guilfoyle.
“He brings a wealth of commercial experience, but just as importantly he understands that the best hotels are driven by personality, creativity and connection.
“I’m excited to see the impact he’ll have as we continue building on what we’ve created over the past nine months.”
Roach will be responsible for guest engagement, strategic partnerships and market positioning as well as driving growth for the hotel from its F&B and events offerings and across its 109 accommodation rooms.
“The Olympia has found its footing at the blurry, brilliant edges of Paddington, Surry Hills and Darlinghurst, a neighbourhood with a deep creative legacy and a diaspora that makes it one of the most interesting corners of Sydney,” said Roach.
“The storytelling we’ve built around the Olympia Theatre’s history gives us something genuinely ours and our culinary precinct is where that comes alive.
“Having four distinct venues under one roof is rare for a hotel of our size, and it’s made us a hub for locals, key partners and guests alike. That combination is what drew me to this role.
“What excites me most now is our agility, and what we do with it next. We’re a global lifestyle brand with the instincts of an independent, able to read the neighbourhood, move quickly and keep giving people a reason to come back.”
The hotel has a couple of event spaces, including The Academy, an immersive space running to 156m2 for up to 100 people and a more intimate space in The Odean for up 30 people. Three of its F&B spaces, including its rooftop bar, with sweeping views, and its flagship restaurant can also be hired exclusively for events.
