Following a stint acting in the role, Brian Pereira has been selected as Crown Perth’s next CEO.
Crown Perth’s sizeable complex offers a convention centre and additional meeting and event spaces, 1,188 hotel rooms across three different Crown brands, an entertainment theatre, 33 restaurants and bars and a casino.
Pereira joined Crown Perth in September 2023 as its chief financial officer and has been the acting CEO for integrated resort since last August when David Tsai was promoted to be Crown Resorts COO – and eventually its CEO.
Prior to Crown, Pereira spent more than six years as CFO of Perth Airport. He also has experience in the banking sector.
Meanwhile, Ben Wyatt, a former Western Australian treasurer, has been appointed as director and chair-elect for Crown Perth’s board. The current chair, John Van Der Wielen, will remain on the board over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.
This is the second former government minister appointed to oversee a Crown board in as many months, with Victoria’s former tourism minister, Martin Pakula, announced as Crown Melbourne’s future board chair in April.
“I am confident that these two appointments, with their deep local knowledge of the WA tourism sector and economy, are the right people to lead the Perth team into the next exciting era of growth for the state’s only fully integrated entertainment resort,” said Tsai.
Chair of Crown Resorts as a whole, John Borghetti, said both men were “highly regarded”.
“My appointment as Crown Perth chair in 2022 has been a great challenge, assisting the team in undertaking one of the most complex transformations in Australia,” said outgoing Crown Perth chair, Van Der Wielen.
“Appointing a new CEO and chair-elect brings to fruition much of the significant work undertaken in the last three years and I am very confident the business will prosper with so many new and exciting opportunities.”
