The 109-room luxury property sits behind the original island settlement and includes lakeside event space for 140 delegates.
The refurbished and expanded accommodation offering is a $50 million-plus reworking of an existing property. The first cache of rooms opened in late 2024 while a second phase of new rooms opened in July 2025.
The lodge was included in TIME Magazine’s World’s Greatest Places for 2025 just months after opening.
The Western Australian government has welcomed the completion of the property.
“The Lodge Wadjemup adds valuable capacity to Rottnest Island’s conferencing and accommodation infrastructure, complementing existing venues and supporting our goal to grow business events and year-round visitation,” said the state’s tourism minister, Reece Whitby.
“Rottnest Island is an iconic tourism destination and it’s important we upgrade infrastructure and facilities to drive visitation to the island.
“This development reflects our commitment to accessible, sustainable tourism and aligns with the state visitor economy strategy and the Rottnest Island Management Plan to position Western Australia as a leading destination for leisure and business travel.”
The other major offering for business events visitors to Rottnest Island is the 80-room Samphire Rottnest, another relatively new opening on the island, debuting in October 2020, with event space for up to 200 cocktail or groups of up to 90 on long tables.
Rottnest Island is just 30 minutes by ferry from Fremantle or 90 minutes from Perth.
The island is also home to the now world-famous quokka.
