More than $30 million in event potential on offer at Gold Coast mega famil
Around 60 event professionals from Australia and New Zealand are headed to the Gold Coast next week for the annual This is Gold Coast (TIGC24) famil.

According to Experience Gold Coast, of which Business Events Gold Coast is a part, there is upwards of $30 million in event business amongst the attendees up for grabs by the Gold Coast and the 43 partners who will be involved in the famil.

“We are the home of technology, innovation and health sciences, in a vibrant hub of entrepreneurship, surrounded by one of the most famous leisure destinations in the world – imagine what’s possible,” said Brooke Campbell, Experience Gold Coast’s director of business events.

This is Gold Coast will showcase unique venues, accommodation, experiences and conference facilities on the stretch of coastline just above the New South Wales-Queensland border.

The destination is currently in the midst of a huge luxury hotel boom – largely dominated by Marriott International – with The Langham, Gold Coast opening in 2022 and St Regis, Ritz-Carlton and Luxury Collection hotels all slated to debut over the next few years. A Mondrian hotel from Ennismore is also on the cards.

The destination is also increasingly promoting its burgeoning intellectual capabilities.

“The Gold Coast has the natural advantage as the perfect backdrop for any conference, meeting and incentive group, centred between 57 kilometres of stunning coastline, 100,000 hectares of ancient rainforest, and encapsulates more than 51 per cent of green and open space,” said Experience Gold Coast’s executive director of events, Avril Harris.

“TIGC24 provides a great opportunity to enhance the profile of the Gold Coast as a premium business events destination, inspiring the imagination with creative and bespoke events with a focus on sustainability.

“According to Queensland Business Event Survey (QBES) the Gold Coast business events sector generated $499 million in economic benefit in the 2022-2023 financial year, and we recognise our responsibility to create a positive impact and leave a legacy for generations to come.”

The Gold Coast typically hosts around half of the business events which come to Queensland.

The 2024 This is Gold Coast also marks the 10th edition of the event. The famil will take place from July 22 to 27.
