Located on Lincoln Square on Swanston Street just outside the Melbourne CBD, the Crowne Plaza Melbourne Carlton is in close proximity to event venue the Royal Exhibition Building and is a short tram ride from the CBD.
The property offers a 107 rooms and four meeting spaces. The purpose-built largest event space on the ground floor can host 160 standing or 128 in theatre and is divisible in two. It is equipped with the latest on-demand AV technology and a pre-function area.
Two other smaller rooms can accommodate 25 pax each in theatre.
The hotel also has an Italian restaurant onsite in a nod to Carlton’s historic association with the European country – the suburb is also home to Lygon Street, famed for its Italian cuisine.
The Crowne Plaza joins other new hotels rising in this northern quarter of the city, including The StandardX, Melbourne in Fitzroy and Lanson Place Parliament Gardens, both of which opened in 2024, alongside the Shangri-La, which has been built but still has no opening date confirmed.
The new Carlton property from IHG joins another Crowne Plaza in Melbourne’s city centre, opposite Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, which is set to be converted into an InterContinental with a major investment from its owner, Salter Brothers.
