The 285-room hotel opened in Adelaide’s 150-year-old General Post Office building last Thursday.
The hotel offers 762m2 of event space across five rooms, including the Sir Charles Todd Ballroom, which has capacity for 250 in theatre or 180 in banquet.
The hotel is 16 minutes’ walk from the Adelaide Convention Centre.
“We are thrilled to celebrate our 600th property milestone in the region with the Adelaide Marriott Hotel, a brand that bears the name of our founding family,” said Marriott International’s president for Asia Pacific, excluding China, Rajeev Menon.
“With 600 operational properties across the APEC region and close to 400 in the pipeline, our growth trajectory is robust.
“Our strategy to be everywhere our guests want us to be is further reinforced by our recent announcement of plans to enter the midscale hospitality segment, providing more opportunities to extend our portfolio presence in new markets and beyond the major gateway cities.”
Microhire recently won the contract to be the in-house production partner for the hotel and announced AI technology was installed in the event spaces.
Adelaide has a number of high-end hotels in the pipeline, including a 206-room Crystalbrook property, with ground broken on the construction of the hotel last month, and a second Marriott property, a 236-room hotel under The Westin brand.
Little National is also building a new hotel in Adelaide, expected to open next year, however plans for a Hyatt Regency have recently been abandoned.
Hotels in Adelaide had their strongest first half year on record in 2024, driven by major events as well as major conferences.
