Leadership transition at Cordis, Auckland
There’s new leadership at New Zealand’s largest hotel, Cordis, Auckland.

After more than 11 years as managing director of the Auckland property, Franz Mascarenhas has handed over leadership of Cordis, Auckland to Craig Bonnor.

Bonnor joined Cordis, Auckland in December 2023 and has previously held a variety of general management and business development leadership roles with Hilton, Pan Pacific Hotels and others.

Bonnor said he was “incredibly honoured” to be taking on the managing director role.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this exceptional team and build upon the very strong foundation established by Franz. I am committed to continuing to deliver exceptional, heartfelt service to our guests, fostering a positive work environment for our employees and driving further success for the hotel.”

With 640 rooms and 18 meeting spaces, Cordis, Auckland is also a significant player in New Zealand’s business events landscape. The property’s Great Room can host a banquet for 800 attendees. Two years ago, the hotel added its Pinnacle Tower, which boosted both rooms and conferencing capacity.

Mascarenhas has overseen the property both as the Cordis, Auckland and when it operated under Langham Hospitality Group’s other, more prolific brand locally, The Langham.

“I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished together at Cordis Hotel over the years,” said Mascarenhas.

“I wish Craig and the entire team all the very best and I know that they will continue to build upon the strong foundation that the team has created.”

Mascarenhas will stay on as a part time advisor to Cordis, Auckland, while also working to support Langham Hospitality Group’s expansion in New Zealand.
