Journey Beyond already operates The Ghan train journey through Central Australia and luxury glamping operation Sal Salis on the beach beside Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia, alongside the unique Reefsleep and Reefsuites accommodation experiences on the Great Barrier Reef.
Now the company will oversee the new 78-room Monarto Safari Resort and a 20-tent glamping experience on the same site. The resort is due to open at the end of May this year and sits within Monarto Safari Park, managed by Zoos South Australia and the largest safari park in the world outside Africa.
“I am delighted that Journey Beyond will be leading the operations at Monarto Safari Resort,” said the resort’s owner Gerry Ryan OAM.
“With their expertise in crafting exceptional travel experiences and their proven track record in managing high-end properties, they are ideally suited to oversee this iconic resort.
“Renowned for their outstanding guest service and meticulous attention to detail, I am confident they will uphold the high standards we all aspire to.
“Our mission has always been to offer guests an unparalleled experience that connects them with the natural beauty and conservation efforts of the area, and I am excited to see how Journey Beyond will bring this vision to life.”
While still under construction, the resort was put up for sale in mid-2024, however it appears no sale was made, with Ryan still the owner.
A portion of each room rate at the resort will be donated to conservation efforts being undertaken at the safari park.
The resort also includes event spaces, two swimming pools and a spa.
“It’s more than just a hotel; it’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in authentic wildlife experiences,” said Journey Beyond’s executive general manager, David Donald.
“Here, you can connect with wild Africa, witness the beauty of diverse species, and indulge in the serenity of your surroundings, making your stay a truly unforgettable adventure.
“I invite you to stay wild, the resort is nestled within Monarto Safari Park and Wild Africa precincts, situated in the heart of the picturesque Murraylands, offering breathtaking waterhole views and an unparalleled escape into nature’s embrace.”
