Winter Sports World in Sydney, will be operated by Chinese company BONSKI, which runs several indoor snow resorts in China.

The $700 million Australian resort, out in Penrith in Sydney’s west, is expected to open in 2028, as both a tourism attraction and as a training ground for elite snow sports athletes.

“The opportunity to help shape Australia’s first year-round snow destination is incredibly exciting,” said BONSKI president, Lu Peng.

“Our global experience means Winter Sports World will offer world-class snow quality, athlete-standard terrain and unforgettable experiences for skiers, riders and competitors at every level.”

Winter Sports World and BONSKI have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which will see the international operator advise on design and operate the snow sports aspect of the resort both pre and post opening.

With BONSKI at the helm, the resort will deliver chemical-free snow all year round and become a hub for snow sports events and exhibitions.

The resort includes meeting spaces and a 200-room hotel and is forecast to have a $2.5 billion economic impact over its first decade.

Located just 15km from the new Western Sydney International airport, which is set to open in late 2026, the resort has received all of its planning approvals and is ready to begin construction.
