International conferences and exhibitions flourishing in Malaysia
This year is looking good for Malaysia’s MICE industry. At least six major international conferences, with some 2,000 to 10,000 delegates, and 12 exhibitions with 5,000 to 50,000 participants are slated between February and November.

These events are supported by Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB).

Scaling up from Routes Asia 2024 in Langkawi this February and the International Advertising Association World Congress 2024 in Penang in March, several medical and technical conferences with upwards of 2,000 attendees are taking place in Kuala Lumpur.

The largest conference with 10,000 delegates from 17 countries and regions registered to date is the International Dragon Award Annual Conference & Worldwide Chinese Life Insurance Congress 2024. It will take place from August 9-12 at Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

Meanwhile, Defence Services Asia (DSA) Exhibition & Conference 2024 and National Security Asia 2024, held at MITEC from May 6-9, attracted 1,324 companies from 60 countries and more than 47,000 trade visitors from 114 countries.

With good leads generated at IMEX Frankfurt in May, MyCEB is hoping to draw almost 30,000 potential delegates with an estimated economic impact of MYR88.12 million (AUD28 million).

“About 40 per cent of discussions were on conferences, another 40 per cent focused on meetings and incentives, and the remaining 20 per cent covered exhibitions and inquiries about international sporting events,” said MyCEB.

“The automobile, environmental, pharmaceutical and science sectors were prioritised based on current trends and events organised in Malaysia, according to our data analysis,” it added.

MyCEB and industry partners are pushing the MyTripleE – Excel, Elevate, Enliven – campaign to attract regional and international business events to Malaysia.
