The 2027 global congress will be held in Kigali, Rwanda, in East Africa from October 24 to 27.
In ICCA’s latest worldwide rankings of convention cities and countries, Rwanda came in third for Africa, and named as a rising star for the continent, while its capital Kigali was ranked 82 globally amongst cities.
“It is a great honour for Rwanda to host the ICCA Congress and to welcome the global association community back to Africa for the first time in twenty years,” said Rwanda Convention Bureau’s CEO, Janet Karemera.
“This historic occasion reflects the continent’s growing prominence and leadership within the international MICE industry.
“Made possible through the steadfast support of our partners and stakeholders, both local and regional, this milestone provides an important opportunity to offer distinguished experiences and to present, not only Rwanda’s capabilities but also the collective strength and potential of our regional partners.”
In 2028, Muscat in Oman, in the Middle East, will host the ICCA Congress from November 15 to 18.
According to ICCA, the 2028 meeting will ‘focus on community development, positioning Oman as a central meeting point connecting Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe’.
ICCA’s CEO, Senthil Gopinath, said the association was “incredibly excited for the journey ahead”.
“Both destinations exemplify the ambition, creativity, and commitment to excellence that define the global business events community.
“As ICCA continues to lead the business events industry forward, these congresses will provide powerful platforms for collaboration, transformation, business opportunities for members and shared growth.
“Each congress offers a unique opportunity for our community to unite, exchange ideas, and shape the future of our industry. Kigali and Muscat will help us elevate our global conversations to new heights.”
Closer at hand, the 2026 ICCA Congress will be held in Panama City, Panama from November 8 to 11.
