The centre hosted 823 events over the financial year, including 122 exhibitions, 81 conferences and hundreds of other events, including corporate meetings, entertainment events and banquets. These figures include 34 events new to the venue – 14 exhibitions and 20 conferences.
“We are encouraged to see these results, and to note that the number of events which have returned to the HKCEC is now over 80 per cent of the number pre-COVID (FY2018/19), on a par with our expectations,” said HKCEC managing director, Monica Lee-Müller.
“Indeed, 100 per cent of recurrent trade exhibitions have now returned to our venue.
“I’m proud that the efficiency and professionalism of our operation workforce, combined with our strenuous business development efforts, have enabled us to secure several new exhibitions as well as retaining many long-established ones.
“These results reflect that Hong Kong’s unique advantages for hosting international events remain, and reaffirm the HKCEC’s position as an ideal choice for exhibition and event organisers looking for a world-class venue, professional services and comprehensive solutions,” she said.
Looking ahead, the centre has some significant meetings in store for the current financial year, including major technology conference Consensus 2025 and the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) 2025 Annual Meeting, which has an anticipated attendance of 4,500 delegates.
Meanwhile Hong Kong has won the Lions International Convention for 2026 and is expecting 20,000 attendees – a significant jump up from the 10,500-plus contingent that met at the convention when it was held in Melbourne this year.
The 2026 meeting will be held at AsiaWorld-Expo, which is located right next to Hong Kong’s international airport.
“Hong Kong is ready to roar with excitement as we support the Lions Clubs International District 303 to host the 2026 Lions International Convention,” said Hong Kong Tourism Board chair Dr. Pang Yiu-kai.
“This event aligns with our mission to grow the MICE sector and bring the world’s most prestigious events to our vibrant city and drive social and economic benefits for Hong Kong.
“We can’t wait to welcome the members of the Clubs to our city once again with [many] new attractions and excitements developed in the past and coming years.”
The tourism board was one of the organisations which supported the bid to bring the convention to Hong Kong.
“The city’s diverse culture and dynamic energy will fuel ‘Lionism’ by providing a robust platform for members from around the world to come together and interact with each other as they enjoy making a difference in their communities,” said Sammy Shum, the district governor for Lions Clubs International District 303.
