The first international flight to Western Sydney International Airport will touch down on November 23, 2026.

Singapore Airlines has opened bookings for its daily direct services between Singapore and the new Western Sydney airport – code name WSI.

The first flight on the route will leave Singapore late in the morning of November 23, landing in Western Sydney at 10:20pm. The return flight will depart at five minutes to midnight the same day – almost an hour after the curfew for Sydney’s existing airport.

The route will be flown on an Airbus A350-900, with 303 seats, comprising 40 business class seats and 263 in economy.

“Singapore Airlines’ services to Australia’s newest gateway at Western Sydney will deliver more choice and strengthen connectivity to this popular destination for our customers,” said Singapore Airlines’ senior vice president of marketing planning, Dai Haoyu.

“Western Sydney’s late-night departure capacity will enable a seamless travel journey and connections through Singapore Changi Airport to more than 130 global destinations served by the SIA Group.”

The WSI’s CEO, Simon Hickey, called the announcement of tickets and the first flights “a terrific milestone moment”.

“Not only will WSI increase aviation capacity in the Sydney basin, giving travelling more choice and flexibility on when, where and how they choose to fly – our 24-hour services will unlock new routes with Singapore Airlines for everyone across Greater Sydney to enjoy.”

Business Events Sydney’s CEO, Amanda Lampe, also weighed in on the impact of the Singapore Airlines flights on business events in Sydney.

“For the business events sector, direct connections into Western Sydney will start to unlock new opportunities for conferences, corporate meetings and incentives, while supporting the region’s emerging precincts, jobs and visitor economy,” said Lampe.

“This is an important step in building Western Sydney’s position as a competitive and compelling destination for international business events.

“The announcement further strengthens Sydney’s business events proposition, with Western Sydney playing an increasingly important role in welcoming international delegates, supporting event activity and showcasing the region’s growing industry base and economic potential.”

Singapore Airlines already flies into Sydney Airport in Mascot four times each day.
