Field of Light extended into 2027
The 49,000m2 light installation at Ayers Rock Resort at Uluṟu from artist Bruce Munro has had all of the lighting elements of its 50,000 spindles of light replaced and its residency extended until at least April 2027. The refurbishment works renew the vibrancy of the solar-powered installation.
An experience of the installation – roughly the size of seven football fields – can be incorporated into itineraries for business events in several ways.
Groups can visit Field of Light as a standalone activity either at dawn or after dark or combine it with an exclusive dinner, called “A night at Field of Light” for up to 110 people. The dinner offering has also been renewed, with new dishes on the canapé and buffet menu and telescopes added to the experience for a closer look at the stars in the desert sky.
Dawn experiences of Field of Light can also be combined with a breakfast at the installation.
Field of Light has been part of Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia’s offering at the resort since 2016 and has welcomed over 730,000 visitors.
“Field of Light has been an Uluṟu must-do for almost a decade now and we’re delighted to see it revitalised and extended, so guests can continue to be wowed by its special, ethereal magic,” said Voyages CEO Matt Cameron-Smith.
Since the launch of Field of Light, Voyages has introduced other light-leveraging experiences that pack a punch in the desert landscape. In 2023, an evening drone show, Wintjiri Wiru, was introduced at a newly activated site looking onto Uluṟu and in 2024, a laser and light dawn experience called Sunrise Journeys was added to the same site.
Story Bridge Adventure Climb moves over the river
The start and end of the Story Bridge climb experience has moved across Brisbane River from Kangaroo Point to Howard Smith Wharves.
The move comes after the experience was taken over by Artemus Group, the company behind the wharves precinct, last year.
The opening of the north arm of the bridge climb enables the new development and means groups participating in the climb can easily create a wholistic hospitality experience, moving straight from the climb into an event space or restaurant within the Howard Smith Wharves precinct.
“We’re excited that for the first time, we can offer a new experience and perspective from the north side of the river,” said Howard Smith Wharves CEO, Luke Fraser.
“Since fully acquiring the Adventure Climb last year, we’ve been looking at ways to maximise the fun for climbers and we believe this new start and end point for the climb, right in the heart of Howard Smith Wharves will add new exciting dimensions.”
