The 277-room hotel is expected to open next month, with a hero event space able to seat 900 people facing Melbourne’s Yarra River.
“As the first 1 Hotel in Australia, we were intentional in selecting partners who understand our commitment to sustainability, wellbeing and elevated guest experiences,” said a 1 Hotel Melbourne spokesperson.
“Encore’s alignment with our values, their global experience with other 1 Hotels and their EcoVadis sustainability accreditation made them the ideal choice.”
EcoVadis provides sustainability ratings to supply chain businesses and has over 100,000 businesses currently rated through their methodology. Encore globally is rated bronze with EcoVadis, indicating it sits within the top 35 per cent of companies assessed for sustainability by EcoVadis, which looks at the policies, actions and results of each company.
“This collaboration is about more than production – it’s about purpose,” said Encore’s international managing director, Scott Nodsle, who is based in Australia.
“We’re thrilled to bring our creative production expertise and sustainable solutions to 1 Hotel Melbourne, helping them redefine what extraordinary, sustainably focussed events look like in the APAC region.”
micenet had a tour of 1 Hotel Melbourne during the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) in February and can attest to its nature-forward ethos – there are more than 2,000 living plants in guest rooms, on walls and in public spaces, bedheads are made from old wooden railway sleepers and in some rooms there are stunning live-edged wooden desks.
