Darwin Convention Centre triumphs at Australian Tourism Awards
The three best business events venues in Australia – according to judges of the Australian Tourism Awards – have been named.

Darwin Convention Centre came out on top, winning the gold in the singular business events venue category. The venue also hosted the awards ceremony this year.

Peppers Silo Hotel in Launceston, Tasmania, took the silver, while Pullman Bunker Bay Resort in Margaret River, Western Australia, took the bronze.

Darwin Convention Centre offers 23,000m2 of event space, while Pullman Bunker Bay has over 700m2 and Peppers Silo has five spaces for up to 120 people.

At the awards in Darwin on Friday night, Adelaide was announced as the host of the awards ceremony in March 2025.

“The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards will provide a fantastic opportunity to showcase our state to the best of our nation’s tourism industry, with world-class events like the Adelaide Fringe, Adelaide Festival and WOMADelaide in full swing,” said South Australia’s tourism minister, Zoe Bettison.

“In the ten years’ since we last hosted these prestigious awards, our CBD now boasts 5-star luxury accommodation including the Sofitel Adelaide, EOS by SkyCity, and the soon-to-be-opened [Adelaide] Marriott.”

Up to 800 people from the tourism industry around the country are expected to attend the ceremony in Adelaide, which will be the 40th anniversary of the awards.

“With its strong and vibrant array of festivals and events, Adelaide is well placed to create a festive atmosphere to commemorate this exciting event,” said Erin McLeod, CEO of the Australian Tourism Industry Council, which manages the awards.

“Adelaide is home to an incredibly rich selection of venues and is brimming with opportunities to collaborate with the local industry to put together an absolutely show-stopping event.

“We are looking forward to working with the South Australian tourism industry and welcoming guests from across the country to celebrate this milestone event.”
