Both Brisbane and Perth will see Cathay Pacific services to Hong Kong rise to twice daily from October 26, 2025.
Services between Perth and Hong Kong will increase from 11 to 14 services per week, while services between Brisbane and Hong Kong will rise from 12 to 14.
“The increased number of services results in more than 200,000 seats each way being available on the route per year,” said Perth Airport’s chief commercial and aviation officer, Kate Holsgrove, of the additional Perth flights.
“Cathay Pacific plays a crucial role in supporting business travel, as well as making it easier for tourists and international students to come to WA.
“The airline also plays an important role in connecting to the Chinese Mainland, Japan, Europe and North America.”
The increased frequencies to both Brisbane and Perth will be maintained year-round.
“Every new service is an opportunity to open more doors for our customers, and we’re proud to serve as a key gateway for both travellers and freight to Hong Kong and beyond from these two cities,” said Cathay Pacific’s regional general manager for the Southwest Pacific, Frosti Lau.
“Over the summer when travel numbers soar, Cathay Pacific will be operating over 80 weekly flights from Australia.
“This month, the Cathay Group is also celebrating our network reaching 100 passenger destinations worldwide which is a landmark milestone in our commitment to expanding our global footprint, enabling our passengers and cargo to connect with more of the world’s most captivating cities and cultures.”
The airline’s 100 destination milestone is symbolic of the rapid recovery of the carrier, which at its lowest point during the pandemic, in March 2022, carried just 58 passengers to three destinations. The airline is now consistently seeing passenger numbers above 100,000 daily.
This month, Cathay Pacific will begin flying to Munich, while its low-cost intra-Asia subsidiary, HK Express, will begin a route to Miyako, Japan, to hit the 100 destination milestone.
