Sydney’s business events bidding agency BESydney secured 73 events over the 2024-2025 financial year.

These wins are expected to draw 56,000 delegates who are anticipated to spend $236 million as a result of their event attendance.

During the last financial year, 66 international and national events won with the support of BESydney were held, with a collective attendance of 40,000 delegates and a spend of $162 million.

The results, released this week at BESydney’s annual general meeting, are the last under the organisation’s long-time CEO, Lyn Lewis-Smith, who departed in June, with Amanda Lampe coming on board as her replacement in the same month.

“In my first few months, I’ve been struck by the pace, energy and sheer professionalism of this industry – all working collaboratively to create memorable experiences for those who visit Sydney,” said Lampe.

“Then there is the sheer scale of the value that business events bring, and their role in shaping the future of New South Wales.

“Not only do we attract tens of thousands of visitors each year who spend with local businesses and support local jobs. The reach and resonance of what we do is extraordinary.

“Foundations for future industries are made here, with innovation springing from connections formed, research commercialised and partnerships forged that endure long after delegates return home.

“None of this would happen without BESydney and the partners we bring together across industry, government and academia.”

At June 30, 2025, BESydney had confirmed 62 international and national business events out to 2030, which are collectively forecast to attract 98,000 delegates and deliver a $400 million spend.

During the AGM, W Sydney’s general manager, Titus Rosier, was elected as a new member director to the BESydney board, replacing BridgeClimb CEO Deborah Zimmer.
