Hopkins has been appointed to the board for a two-year term and joins several Australians already part of the body.
BEIA recently hosted PCMA’s APAC managing director, Florence Chua, at New Zealand’s flagship business events trade show MEETINGS in Auckland, where Chua took part in a panel with Hopkins and other industry leaders.
“I have had a long association with PCMA with their focus on creating a community for those who work within the predominately corporate event organiser and management space,” said Hopkins.
“The Asia Pacific region is extremely important to New Zealand, and to be working alongside an incredible roster of talent on the RAB [regional advisory board] is exciting.
“This includes fellow New Zealanders, Andrew Pennington, campaign and programme marketing lead at Google Cloud JAPAC [based in Singapore] as well as Deborah Caldwell, SVP APAC, global events at Bank of America Merrill Lynch [based in Hong Kong] who sits on the PCMA global board.”
Hopkins joined the board alongside three others – Mala Dorasamy, CEO of Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre, Philip Goh, head of global experience marketing for Ciena, and Will Kataria, country head and senior director of Cvent in Singapore.
“[Regional advisory board members’] collective insights will ensure that PCMA remains relevant, regionally engaged and commercially impactful, creating platforms that elevate business events strategists and suppliers, and drive stronger trade partnerships across APAC markets,” said Chua.
Of the 16-member regional advisory board, four are based in Australia, including Saxton CEO, Anne Jamieson, AusIMM COO Melissa Holdsworth, Shelley Ryan, events and incentives manager for FUJIFILM Business Innovation Australia and Stuart Frank, senior director of strategic events in Asia Pacific for Salesforce.
Hopkins is the only member of the advisory board who represents a country.
