Properties including Longitude 131 at Uluru, Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island, The Louise in the Barossa Valley and Silky Oaks Lodge in the Daintree that sat under the Baillie Lodges name are now part of a new brand called Beckons.
Beckons brings together all of the Baillie Lodges properties, located in Australia, New Zealand and Canada, with the Tierra Hotels properties, located in Chile.
Baillie Hotels acquired a majority stake in Tierra Hotels in 2022, following an investment by private equity firm KSL Capital Partners in Baillie Lodges in 2019.
“This launch represents far more than a new brand. It reflects years of belief, learning, and intentional growth,” said Baillie Lodges CEO Michael Crawford on LinkedIn of the new brand, which he will now lead as CEO.
Baillie Lodges was founded by James and Hayley Baillie with the opening of Capella Lodge on Lord Howe Island off the New South Wales coast in 2003. The couple also established both Southern Island Lodge and Longitude 131 before acquiring Silky Oaks, The Louise, Huka Lodge and Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge in Canada, with the backing of KSL Capital Partners.
Around US$100 million has been invested into a variety of these properties over recent years, including renovations of Huka Lodge and Silky Oaks Lodge.
In 2026, wellness offerings will be added to The Louise and Silky Oaks.
