The Sydney-headquartered AV1 had its biggest month – in terms of revenue – on record this October and rented out 35,338 pieces of gear over the month.
“AV1’s success throughout October 2024 has been driven by several key factors,” said AV1 managing director Nigel Mintern.
“We’ve seen a significant uptake in conceptual LED design, with numerous productions featuring custom-designed LEDs – highlighting a clear trend toward unique and creative solutions.
“Additionally, we observed a shift in the market compared to last year, with some clients scheduling their flagship events in October rather than the traditional November or December period.
“It’s also been a strong month for client growth, as we welcomed new clients while continuing to deliver large-scale productions for our long-term partners who trust AV1 to bring their events to life,” said Mintern.
Alongside this, the company has been nominated for two awards in the inaugural Australian Business Events Association (ABEA) Awards, taking place on Tuesday evening.
The team is shortlisted for Supplier Team of the Year and AV1’s marketing and communications manager, Andrew Crook, has been nominated in the Future Leader category.
AV1 is also in the final approval stage to be recertified as a B Corp – recognising a commitment to people, profit and the planet – and the team has become one of two preferred production suppliers for The Collider, a striking event venue near Sydney’s Central Station.
While delivering business as usual, the team spent the last financial year working hard on streamlining operations, including incorporating new systems to better track the workflows of their gear inventory, automating administrative tasks and making their warehouse paperless. This work landed the team the national AV award from Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) earlier this year.
AV1 has also been working on its internal diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion strategy and its external offering for clients, culminating in a new quiet space for staff within AV1’s headquarters and a new set of solutions for clients in this area.
And to top it all off, AV1 celebrated two decades in business during October, with an event for current and former staff.
“Looking ahead, we’re investing in new equipment set to arrive early next year, and our forward bookings pipeline is shaping up to be very positive,” said Mintern.
“The momentum is strong, and we’re eager to build on this success.”
