Australian company becomes ICCA’s sustainability partner
The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has signed on to a collaboration with EarthCheck, headquartered in Brisbane.

“This partnership with EarthCheck is a defining moment for ICCA and the global business events industry,” said ICCA CEO Dr. Senthil Gopinath.

“Sustainability is no longer optional – it is fundamental to how we operate and grow.

“By combining ICCA’s global network with EarthCheck’s scientific expertise, we are empowering our members to deliver events that create positive outcomes for people, places and the planet.

“Together, we are setting a clear path toward a low-carbon future.”

The first action of the two-year partnership was to measure the carbon emissions from ICCA’s global congress held in Porto, Portugal, in November with EarthCheck’s EventCalculator.

The collaboration will see the association and the sustainability certification and advisory organisation work together on sustainability strategies, training, events and communications.

Through the partnership, ICCA members will also receive access to EarthCheck’s certification support, guidance and tools.

EarthCheck is already prominent in the sustainability space for Australia’s business events industry, with almost of all Australia’s major convention centres certified through the organisation, alongside a good number of hotels which host business events and their groups.

“Both ICCA and EarthCheck recognise that sustainability must be measurable, transparent and actionable,” said EarthCheck’s founder and CEO, Stewart Moore.

“This partnership strengthens the industry’s ability to act with purpose.

“ICCA connects a vast global community, and EarthCheck brings the metrics and methodology to support credible action.

“Together, we can help destinations and organisers make informed decisions that create real impact.”
