There have been multiple appointments at luxury hotels on the Gold Coast.

GM and other senior staff appointed for Andaz Gold Coast

Ahead of its opening later this year, the 202-key Andaz Gold Coast, located within The Star’s complex, has unveiled several members of its leadership team.

Saraid Carey is the hotel’s general manager, coming to the property with significant experience within Hyatt Hotels, which owns the Andaz brand.

Before moving to helm the Andaz on the Gold Coast, she spent more than four and a half years leading the team at Hyatt Regency in Brisbane. Other previous GM posts were at the Hyatt Regency Koh Samui in Thailand and Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit.

Meanwhile, Jane Strangman will head up sales and marketing for the hotel. She has hotel marketing experience dating back to 1995 and has worked for a variety of major hotel groups, including Marriott, Starwood, Radisson and Accor.

Alongside Strangman, Stacey Plaine has been appointed Andaz Gold Coast’s marketing specialist, bringing leadership experience with the likes of Mondrian Gold Coast, The Langham, Gold Coast, W Osaka, W Brisbane, JW Marriott Maldives and Howard Smith Wharves in Brisbane.

Finally, Steven Rhodes has been selected as the hotel’s director of food and beverage, coming to the property from The Star Gold Coast, where he was event operations manager. Rhodes also has significant experience in restaurant management as well as catering and events.

Wilbur Tauro has joined JW Marriott Gold Coast

JW Marriott Gold Coast appoints director of operations

Wilbur Tauro is JW Marriott Gold Coast’s new director of operations.

Tauro has been with Marriott for seven years and moves to Australia from Fiji, where he was hotel manager and property leader for Sheraton Resort and Spa Tokoriki Island.

He has been working his way up to ever more senior positions over the past decade and a half, working for major hotel brands including Westin, Four Seasons and Grand Hyatt in India, Fiji and Australia.

“Wilbur’s wealth of luxury hospitality experience and passion for service excellence make him a strong addition to our leadership team,” said JW Marriott Gold Coast’s multi-property general manager, Ravinder Dhesi.

“We look forward to the expertise and leadership he will bring as we continue to elevate the guest experience at the resort.”
