The Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) is expected to play a role in $400 million worth of event business, according to post-show research.

The trade show for the business events industry held in Melbourne in February saw more than 4,500 people meet at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, including 675 exhibitors and 640 hosted buyers.

Research and analysis completed after the event forecasts $400 million worth of business events transactions will be completed between buyers and sellers who met at the show within the next year.

This represents a 21 per cent increase from the $330 million in transactions generated by the 2024 show.

AIME 2025 was the largest show delivered under the current organisers, Talk2 Media and Events, on behalf of show owner Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB), and the largest AIME in over a decade.

Before this year’s event, Talk2 Media and MCB reached an agreement to continue the organising partnership for another three years, as revealed exclusively by micenet in February.

“AIME 2025 surpassed all expectations, and the extension of our contract with MCB is a testament to our ability to deliver exceptional events,” said Talk2 Media CEO, Matt Pearce.

“Our team is committed to building on the momentum of AIME 2025, continuing to innovate and elevating the event experience.

“We look forward to working with our partners and the entire business events industry to create even more impactful and successful AIME events in the years to come.”

MCB’s CEO, Julia Swanson, said the bureau was “thrilled to see the event continue to grow and thrive”.

“We look forward to many more years of this landmark event providing a platform for building connections and sharing knowledge, right here in Australia’s events capital,” she said.

AIME’s event director, Silke Calder, told micenet on the show floor last month that she expects the show to get larger again in 2026, although the growth was likely to be more moderate than in the previous few years.

“Will there be growth? Yes. But not massive growth,” she told micenet.

“However, this is not, to us, not the most important thing.

“For us, we need to deliver a high-quality show…flying in the best buyers we can find, having a great exhibitor selection.”
